This is a brief video stepping through some elements of the ‘commitment cycle’ or ‘conversations for action loop’. I acknowledge the work of Fernando Flores, Chauncey Bell, and Bob Dunham in developing these ideas, and I thank Alan Sieler for first sharing them with me during his powerful Ontological Coaching and Leadership training programs.

Leadership, management and the coordination of action are conversational activities. The video is a brief orientation to the conversations for action. It does not include the importance of moods and emotions to effective conversations in each phase. “The right conversation in the wrong mood is the wrong conversation”.

The leadership and management conversations introduced in this diagram are the backbone of high-performing teams that deliver on “no surprises”. They are at the heart of Reflecting Power’s “Powerful Conversations Program” (for Leadership and Collaboration) offered in the APS, VPS, NSWPS, Schools and businesses.

In late 2024 I just might run a public program for team leaders and Executive Level public servants – leave me your email here to learn more and get first access if I do.
